Garajau - Cristo Rei | Madeira

There's something about being around nature that calms me and makes me feel at ease and just happy within myself, you could say I feel "at one" with nature and all that. Taking a trip to Garajau a place between Funchal and Caniço is the perfect spot for that. Here you can find the Cristo Rei Statue which is a mini version of the famous statue in Brazil.

The layers of green and rooftops in the distance is beautiful to see, it's like you're looking at life in a different perspective, like a blank canvas. Perfect to reflect on the things you find important or just to take a deep breathe of fresh air.

You can take a short trek to the bottom to see the view or you can go down on the Cable car near by and hit the beach. Garajau beach is one of the best for clear water perfect for looking for sea life, also hugged by the mountain it gives you that secluded vibe even though public but if your not in the mood for some swimming there is always the Café where you can sip a drink and relax.

These three islands you can see in the distance are called "As Dessertas" no one lives on them just wild life.

Lastly but not least after the small trek up I headed towards the car and saw this beautiful butterfly and actually managed to capture it! I was so excited to be able to capture such a beautiful picture of this magnificent creature! I love butterflies.
